猫の名前でいちばんいいなと思ったのは「ねもじ」。
女房詞の佇まいでもあるし、『不思議の国のアリス』由来とも思える。
女房詞で「ねもじ」は「ねぎ」のこと。あと、「ねぎ」を「き」と一文字でいったことから「ひともじ」ともいうらしい。
「ひもじい」が文字詞由来と知って驚いた。「ひもじ」の形容詞化。
「ひもじ」は「ひだるし」（空腹であるの意）の文字詞。
文字詞は女房詞が起こりではあっても、女房詞そのものとは限らない。「ひもじ」の用例はここでは19世紀初頭の『続膝栗毛』でのものが挙がってる：
『不思議の国のアリス』で、アリスが、ネズミを怯えさせないように cats and dogs を婉曲に C and D という場面がある。「ネ文字とイ文字」。
「ねもじ」くんは、女房詞の造語法と『アリス』と、両方を踏まえてるんじゃないか。
Hatfield And The North 'Mumps'（"The Rotters' Club" 所収）の歌詞は、私の英語力には全くの謎だけど、最後はオチになってる気もする。
